Social Studies Songwriting Assembly with Mr. Nicky (Virtual Program) Mr. Nicky is an accomplished songwriter and certified teacher bringing a fresh approach to teaching social studies by creating parody songs. His YouTube channel (Mr. Nicky’s World History Songs) has gained over 20 million views and 130,000 subscribers by helping students recall and review their lessons on ancient civilizations such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. Mr. Nicky’s virtual assemblies (via Zoom/Google Meet/etc.) meet state learning standards in both social studies and ELA. The students write a history song together throughout the course of the hour as Mr. Nicky keeps the time fun and interactive by singing his hits, showing how he creates his channel, taking questions and having a blast celebrating ancient civilizations!

You get “Superhero Math,” an elementary math school assembly that will grab your students’ attention and spark their imaginations. In this Math School Assembly for Elementary Schools, your K-6 students will meet an actual Superhero who shrinks down to just eight inches tall as your students participate in measurement games. The spandex-wearing Superhero will also divide into ninths as your students learn about fractions. Finally, this funny superhero sidekick will geometrically vanish into a shape-filled puzzle! Plus, after 14 students participate live in front of the entire audience, every student in the crowd will take home a super-secret instruction sheet. Using this set of instructions and the fun math lessons they learned, students will have the ability to show their families that the actual mathematics superhero is living with them!

Historic Huguenot Street is a 10-acre National Historic Landmark District and museum in New Paltz, NY. Visitors at HHS can experience thousands of years of history at our seven historic stone-house museums, reconstructed 1717 French Church, original burying ground, and replica Esopus Munsee wigwam. Historic Huguenot Street envisions a nationally recognized historic site that will inspire guests to think in new ways about American history while also carrying forward the conversation about the relationship between past and present. On Monday they’re cast as characters. By Saturday, they’ve GAINED CHARACTER. The kind that really counts! A week-long residency STARRING 50-60 of your local school age children in a full-scale musical. A tour team arrives in your town in their Red Truck loaded with a set, lights, costumes, and props, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. The team holds an open audition and casts 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented at the end of the week! Our Mission: Empowering children and adults through theatre education and performance to develop lifelong skills while enriching communities worldwide through live productions.

This program is taught by PGA Class A Professional Rich Scott. Using SNAG golf equipment, children in grades K-5 along with the PE teacher will be taught not only the game of golf, but also the life lessons that are used as vehicle through golf. Equipment will be provided along with expertise, curriculum, and of course fun. SNAG (starting new at golf) is taught with high impact plastic clubs, colored tennis balls, velcro targets, and a special visit by the SNAG man (a teacher, or administrator dressed in a velcro target suit). This program is designed to create a fun learning environment with words walls, our literacy component and life lessons built in. Effective programs will have the children attend SNAG classes within the regular PE Day, 3-4 times in a 2 week program. I love to share the process of book illustration. With PowerPoint, I start by sharing slides of my childhood journey as an illustrator. People need to know that they can succeed even if they experience setbacks. I emphasize hard work, patience, and continuing learning. I show various slides of personal drawings and artwork along with the many steps involved in making a picture book, such as reviewing the manuscript, researching, sketching, and creating artwork. In addition, I may bring sketchbooks, original artwork, and various visual aids for the audience to see firsthand to understand my work better. My presentation lasts 35-45 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. Presentations will be adjusted according to grade level. I can do up to three presentations per day of the visit.
