Side by Side Science
This specially designed virtual show gets students engaged and excited to experience amazing principles of science while they share safe experiments in front of their computers. Exciting experiments from two of our most popular assembly programs, Wacky Science & SuperMarket Science, have become hands-on lessons kids do under the virtual and side-by-side aid of our wacky scientist, Doug Scheer.
The Shadow Box Theatre’s (SBT) mission is to touch the minds and hearts of children through shadow and three-dimensional puppet-based theatre arts. SBT's programs encourage creative exploration, celebrate diversity, and teach humanistic values such as how to deal with bullying and respecting individual differences, peaceful solutions, and appreciation of our earth.
This is accomplished through an integrated program of performances given in our spaces and brought to your space, creative theatre arts workshops for children, teachers, and parents, and picture books with companion audio, as well as films and audio recordings based on our musical puppet productions.
ENTA - Education Network for Teachers & Artists, Inc.
ENTA supports ALL curricula by teaching through the Arts. We work in all subject areas -- Social Studies, ELA, STEAM, Art, Physical Ed., etc. In ENTA programs, students are empowered to express and demonstrate their knowledge and mastery through a creative process in visual, process or performing arts. ENTA works collaboratively with classroom teachers and professional teaching artists to custom design arts-in-education programming that follows the grade level curricula -- each program is unique to the teacher-artist team to fulfill desired outcomes and goals of the teachers. We work with all grade levels PK - 12. Our customized programs allow students and teachers to experience learning in active, problem-solving, experimental educational environments that produce measurable results, public sharing of the work, and enhance the engagement of students and the enthusiasm of teachers. We are very proud of the work we do and are eager to work with more schools.
Example programs: A Book's Journey (4th grade ELA writing), Embody Art: Anatomy & Figure Drawing (MS Science; HS Art), Improv & the Salem Witch Trials (MS Social Studies), Geometry in Landscape Drawing (4th grade Math), Taking A Stand: Art for Social Change (8th grade ELA), Books on the Boards (K-5 theatre), Energy Science Show (4th grade Science), Shakespeare workshops (MS ELA), Improv workshops (MS/HS).

The Children’s Food Lab brings food and nutrition education to schools throughout the NYC and Mid-Hudson region. The Children’s Food Lab (CFL) offers food arts and sciences discovery labs, where curious minds of all ages can connect to the transformative power of food — food that is integral to the health of their bodies, minds, communities, and environment.
CFL labs are hands-on, multi-sensory with a STEAM-based approached. They incorporate science, technology, math, nutrition, social studies, ELA, and the arts whenever possible. Students learn the incredible stories behind ingredients they eat all the time, foods like corn, wheat, milk, eggs, herbs, oats, vegetables, spices, cacao, and on. Students explore how food is grown, processed, and prepared, as well as how their food choices affect the health of their bodies and environment. The context and backstory of each ingredient creates a deeper connection between students and their food – a connection that will last a lifetime and shape the course of a child’s health and well-being.
We offer programs by Joseph Bruchac, whose books for young readers have been adopted by the NYS curriculum and may be be found in virtually every school library nationwide. For the last 40 years he has been a popular visiting author at schools throughout New York State and the nation. Dr Bruchac’s visits may include traditional Native American music and storytelling and relate directly to themes of environmental awareness, respect for others, and conflict resolution. Programs can be individually tailored to the needs of the school, focus on one or more of his books, or be more general in nature. He also offers workshops in writing poetry and in storytelling. He may also be accompanied—at no extra cost other than food and lodging—by his son Jesse Bruchac, musician, storyteller, film writer and linguist, who is the founder and Director of the School of Abenaki at Middlebury College.
The Jump Rope Masters program is an engaging school assembly that incorporates rope skipping, unicycling, audience participation, a motivational message and glow-in-the-dark awesomeness! The show features 7-Time World Champion and 12-Time Guinness World Records holder, Peter Nestler. This program has been seen live by over a million students in all 50 states and 35+ countries. Our focus is on using a dynamic and exciting show to engage students' attention and then using that platform to help them learn the importance of making good choices to reach their potential. The program is adjusted based on the age group of the students in attendance and we have different messages available on anti-bullying, anti-drug, working hard and more! I am a multi-brass-woodwind-instrumentalist, with a lifetime of road experience traveling the world teaching/playing. I love to share any and all of my knowledge with any one who wants to learn and have fun.
The author/illustrator of over 30 children’s books, Eric Velasquez is also the recipient of the NAACP Image Award for outstanding literature of children. His pre-K - 12 programs are admired by students and teachers alike-- Eric is as good a storyteller in person as he is on the page. During his 45-60 minute presentations, Eric generally relates his personal dual-heritage experience growing up in Spanish Harlem, accompanied by the autobiographical illustrations and music featured in his books. He also explains his writing and artistic process from brainstorming through revision, culminating in a live portrait session (projected on screen so every student can see), which is accompanied by a Q&A.
Love Yourself More: A silly show of strategies for happier, healthier, more motivated kids!
Runtime: 30 minutes
When I created Love Yourself More, I had to choose. Boring lecture about self-directed kindness and compassion? (Noooo!!) Or silly interactive show about the same? (Yes!!) So let’s take 30 minutes to play a grand game of pretend. I promise to embarrass myself. We’ll all sing a song together. Maybe we’ll even scream!
Why? Because low self-esteem feels terrible and leads to depression, anxiety, acting out, substance abuse, bullying, poor academic performance, and other bad stuff. And because I want students to be happier, healthier, and more motivated in school and throughout life. I know you do, too. The solution is simple: Love Yourself More!
About Me
Hi, I’m Heather E. Schwartz! As an improviser, singer, and children’s book author, I’m adept at entertaining audiences and tuned in to young minds. A few of my “claims to fame” include appearing as an expert author on E! Entertainment's True Hollywood Story; writing books for Sesame Street, Disney, and Little Golden Books; and performing a solo show that the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (NYC) called "fun and charming to watch."

*Love Yourself More is designed for elementary school students. That's generally grades K-5, but if your elementary school includes 6th grade, this show is for those students, too!
